I've read and enjoyed Richard Wormser's DRIVE EAST ON 66. Wormser's work isn't top-tier in my opinion but is consistently enjoyable. He also wrote a serial for the pulp ARGOSY with a title I love, though I've never been able to find any of the installments to actually read it: "Gorilla Cargo".
