RARA-AVIS: Residencies for literary translators

As there are a number of translators on this list, and a whole lot of writers who are translated, I hope it will not be considered OT to post this notice. The Banff program is open to translators from Mexico, the U.S. or Canada who are translating authors from any country; also translators from anywhere translating authors from those three countries, which sponsor the BILTC. It's a great opportunity to spend time in a stunning setting far from everyday concerns, to concentrate on a literary translation project.

The Banff International Literary Translation Centre is a three-week residency program offering literary translators an opportunity to focus on a current project, consult with experienced translators, network with colleagues in an international literary forum and, in some cases, spend time with the writer whose work they are translating.

Financial assistance is available. The 2008 application deadline in January 11.
