Mark wrote about capital punishment:

Joe Gores wrote a very moving story, Second Coming, about being such a witness.

************** If I recall correctly, McCarthy's No Country for Old Men starts out with a legal killing, and the guy is such an asshole that it's hard to conjure up much sympathy for him. There's some kind of punchline but I can't remember what it is. I think the guy being executed says some really rude stuff about his family, and then you find out his daughter was in the audience.

Some readers are put off by McCarthy's flavor of execution, but I can imagine him loving that.
