What about the jazz score for 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley,
spinning Matt Damon in a Chet Baker Mode. I heard that
Anthony Minghella, the director, actually believed that the
trumpet player, Chet Baker, was a Ripley-like personality.
That he used Baker's persona as a guide to how the Ripley
character thinks. Baker certainly was a man with problems,
but I never heard that he was homocidal. He sure was a great
trumpet player, thought. The perfect choice for a noir sound
track.
