Re: RARA-AVIS: JAZZ as soundtrack

What about the jazz score for 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley, spinning Matt Damon in a Chet Baker Mode. I heard that Anthony Minghella, the director, actually believed that the trumpet player, Chet Baker, was a Ripley-like personality. That he used Baker's persona as a guide to how the Ripley character thinks. Baker certainly was a man with problems, but I never heard that he was homocidal. He sure was a great trumpet player, thought. The perfect choice for a noir sound track.
