done movies adaptations of hardboiled/noir novels. I don't
know why you think that Reservoir Dogs doesn't qualify.
And as far as politics goes, it is rare that a hardboiled or
noir novel doesn't pose social questions that extrapolate out
to the political. For you to somehow think that these issues
are verboten is to deny a significant aspect of literary
discussion. I don't buy that.
