I think Gil Brewer's "The Red Scarf" is quite good. I've enjoyed several of his other books as well. I'd rate him a bit below Charles Williams, but I do think many of Brewer's novels are worthwhile. I hope someone will write a good biography of Brewer someday--perhaps one is in the works now?
