R.R. Irvine's Moroni Traveler is a former pro football
player, not baseball player. In fact, if memory serves, he
is, like William Campbell Gault's Brock
"The Rock" Callahan, a former LA Ram.
Other SLC-set private eyes include J.R. Levin's Jason Coulter
and Gary Stewart's Gabe Utley.
And Edgarwinner Thomas Cook's TABERNACLE is a dandy
procedural about a gentile homicide detective on the SLCPD
after a killer who thinks LDS is getting too modern.
