Aren't we on DorothyL? The last few days it has certainly seemed so.

************* BWAHAHAHA! Good one. I was a member of DorothyL for a couple months a few years back.

Concerning The Long Goodbye, I dragged it in through Netflix and watched it again. I thought it was damned good, and true to Chandler in many ways. Marlowe is a brave loner, with few friends. He is tough and true to his morals. Two sides of Los Angeles are invoked, the seedy and the affluent, with serious problems across the board. There is some solid dialogue between the writer and Marlowe, and many good lines throughout.
