This is a joke I trust? If Lynch directed The Long Goodbye
today, it would morph in the middle into Cities of the Red
Night. Lynch is a fascinating director, but he has to work on
his own stories. Never ask David Lynch to make a movie with a
specific ending in mind. Personally I find it fascinating to
note the impact of his Twin Peaks TV series on Lost, Jericho,
Vanished, Kidnapped, Heros, even Smallville, and many other
current or recently past series on modern TV.
