Read this during a long travel day this week. I've read lots
of praise for it. Evidently Burroughs is revealing the depths
of depravity borne of drug addiction, sadism, and pedophilia.
I was glad to find out that my suspicion that these things
are being glorified is unwarranted. Communicable disease and
every imaginable human excretion figure largely. The
how-bad-can-I-make-it attitude is reminiscent of fellow Beat
author Selby's Last Exit to Brooklyn.
This book couldn't be published today. No publisher would
touch the satire on Islamism.
