I realize this is old news to many if not the majority of
you,
but for me, learning that Lloyd Nolan starred in
a private eye
TV series in the early 50's - and immediately
finding out that it
is available on DVD for $3.50 - made my day!
Thanks!

Now,
here is some irony. Just as the discussion of Henry Kane's
books started, I was watching some old Martin Kane Private
Eye shows. The January 31, 1952 episode was written by none
other than Henry Kane.
Martin Kane is called by hood Rex Lawson who has an interest
in the Casino Rouge nightclub when the crooner Johnny Silver
is shot while singing his big new hit. By probing into
everyone's affairs with a blunt interview technique, Kane is
able to get the guilty party to spill its guts based on only
one clue. The confession is preserved on a wireless recording
device hidden from view. At the end of this show, Nolan turns
to the camera and makes a plug for the March of Dimes. A
voice over during the credits makes a plug for Nolan's NBC
Sunday radio broadcasts as Martin Kane.
Here is the technical stuff:
