gangster novels before Little Caesar, although I can't name
them. The distinction that I have heard attributed to Little
Caesar was that it was written from the gangster's view. I
don't mean first person, but simply with the gangster as the
main character, rather than the elusive character seen
through the eyes of the pursuing law enforcement.
