I'm tearing through Charles Williams right now and I can't
stop myself. Usually when I go through an author at this
pace, the only thing that slows me down is when I hit a bad
one. Did this guy ever write a bad novel? I went through a
Charles Williams phase a couple of years ago after reading
the Blue Murder edition of Diamond Bikini and started again
recently with HCC's release of Touch of Death. After which I
read Man on the Run, Talk of the Town and now River
Girl.
Charles Williams really needs to be rediscovered by the
public at large. He definitely deserves the kind of reissuing
that Black Lizard did with Jim Thompson or like Serpent's
Tail has done with David Goodis or like Stark House is doing
with Peter Rabe.
I'm a little concerned that I'll never find a
reasonably-priced copy of Uncle Sagamore. Prices seem to
range from $60 to $100.
