RE: RARA-AVIS: Families as hostages in bank jobs

Garry is an Aussie writer.

Ned Kelly, the famous Bushranger who terrorized (or liberated... depending on your point of view...) bushland Victoria in the 1870-80s is reported to have done exactly this.

He had his gang bail up the families of bank managers while Ned would take the manager to open the bank vault. By all reports, the families usually quickly overcame their fear of the gang, often reporting that they had quite a nice time with Ned's brother and closest friends... often serving them tea or participating in sing-alongs.

SO, I'm guessing maybe Garry got the idea from there? (Garry lives in bushland Victoria, BTW)

Just my 2cents.
