Mr. Holden mentioned on the Anthony Powell mailing list that
there's a new web site up for the writer Julian Maclaren-Ross
(1912-1964). If you know or like English mid-century writing,
have a look.
I mention it here because it says he had an interest in
Chandler, Hammett, and film noir, and a short Chandlerian
piece is available, "So Long, My Buddy":

It may not surprise you, given all the Chandler pastiches and
criticism now, but I never knew Maclaren-Ross was interested
in this sort of writing, and he probably did this back in the
fifties when it was much rarer.
