I've been reading a little in Woody Haut's HEARTBREAK AND
VINE, and I've run across a couple of things that I'm
wondering about. Of W. R. Burnett, Haut says, "So be began
publsing with paperback companies like Gold Medal, ofter
writing under a non de plume." I know of one book, BIG STAN,
that appeared as by "John Monahan," but I've never heard of
any other Burnett pen names. Anybody know what they were?
(I've heard that some of the books appearing under Burnett's
own name were actually written by Robert Silverberg.)
Also, Haut refers to "the Dell edition of SCALPEL, now known
as CORRUPTION CITY." I've never read SCALPEL, but I always
thought they were two different books. Anybody know the story
on that?
