I see a fair amount of nervous tension. It's a cold movie, so the tension is less overt than in other noir classics. And, as somebody already said, the cinematic treatment is pure noir.

From a noir box I got in France, I've recently watched _White Heat_ (superb), _Public Enemy_ (also superb, and this one I had never seen), and D.O.A. (absolutely superb). Not from this box, _Killer Bait_ (or _Too Late for Tears_) a wonderful B movie with excellent acting by all concerned. I hadn't even heard of this movie, which I found in a cutout bin at a store.

Best,

MrT
