I picked up both BROWN'S REQUIEM and CLANDESTINE when they
first appeared on the stands. Paperback originals by Avon, I
think. I still have them somewhere around here. Anyway, I was
very excited by both these books, and I thought Ellroy was
going to be a big name. Somewhere along the way, though, he
lost me. WHITE JAZZ, I believe. I gave it a couple of tries
and gave it up. Haven't read a one since then.
