pulps?

From an interview with RWW: McDonald: I saw somewhere where
you had written some thrillers under a pseudonym and they're
going to be reissued soon.
White: Yeah, "Randy Striker." I don't know how soon, but I've
signed the contracts. When they bring them out is entirely up
to them.
McDonald: Were they standalones, or a series?
White: A series. There are seven of them. I wrote them when I
was a full-time fishing guy. I wrote the first one in nine
days. On a black, Underwood, stand-up typewriter.
McDonald: Sounds a little like being a writer in the 1930s
for the pulps.
White: I know. I wrote my first, Ford, Sanibel Flats on it -
I'm a two-finger typist - on the same black typewriter.
