Veronica Mars, eh? Let's see. Girl detective wakes up to find
a) she's been drugged and raped. b) her best friend has been
murdered. c) her ex-boyfriend split with her because he found
out they may be brother and sister. d) Her father lost his
job as Sheriff for finding holes in the alibi of the father
of the murdered girl who is also the richest man in town, the
ex-lover of Veronica's mother and therefore possibly her real
father. And that was just the first episode of a 22 part
season long mystery with a wholly satisfying build and
climax.
Set all that in the unrelenting sunny nightmare of a
Californian high school and I think you'll agree the
scriptwriters are doing just fine without Crumley.
