Thanks Miker. I was thinking post-modern in the sense of
de-constructing the structure to gain understanding of the
story. Is it not legitimate just to have enjoyed the thing?
And anyway, I think people do understand the structure of
storytelling and its purpose more than they let on. It's not
rocket science, and has been used for centuries because it
works. It if has not worked for a particular writer, that
doesn't necessarily mean that it's because the audience was
incapable of understanding what a good story is. Sometimes
that may be the case, but less than we might wish to be the
truth, I suspect.
