The Terrier was also a missile, which also applies to the way
the character was aimed and launched at targets.
Your interesting discussion of the book reminded me of Derek
Raymond's last book, Not Till the Red Fog Rises, about a
just-out-of-jail criminal who simply wants to sell some
passport blanks, but soon finds himself way over his head in
international issues, or at least with people claiming to
represent those nations.
Of course, Ross Thomas was brilliant at that kind of story,
where everyone is using international issues for their own
profit.
