September is now almost over, and we've had the
great pleasure of having Kent Harrington as our Guest of
Honour. I count myself among the many list members who spend
much of the summer looking forward eagerly to his
presence.
Kent: Thank you for your thoughtful responses to
our questions on diverse aspects of how you write, your
influences, your philosophy and the books themselves. It was
very gratifying to get firsthand insight into what you were
trying to achieve with each book, and what kind of things
were influencing your writing and development.
Thanks also for posting the introductory essay to
the Capra edition of DIA. It was a very nice way to put the
DIA Tijuana, and your state of mind (like getting shot at
each day in Oakland!) in context.
Kent: your writing gets frequent discussion here,
and I'm sure it will continue to do so. I hope you've also
found the month interesting, and I hope you will consider
sticking around, even if only to lurk.
On behalf of myself, Mr. Denton, and the entire
list, please accept my thanks for your time and energy this
month as Guest of Honour.
Many thanks!
--Stewart
PS: Mr. Denton is at his cottage this week, where he normally
enjoys connectivity to the net, but has been unable to
overcome some technical difficulties this trip. He will be
back next week.
