Is this cool or what?
Elmore Leonard is penning a new crime serial for the New York
Times Saturday Magazine, starting yesterday. Even better, it
features Carl Webster, the straight-shooting U.S. Marshal
last seen in Dutch's latest, THE HOT KID, in a whole new
adventure, dealing with Nazi prisoners of war in Oklahoma. So
far, it's already reading better than THE HOT KID, mostly
because the background is so interesting (and assuming that
Leonard's research is correct, which it usually is,
AFAIK).
I mean, there were 500 POW camps in the States during WWII?
The mind boggles!
You can read it on-line, or even download a podcast -- for
free.
All you have to do is register with them.
And hard-boiled? If Carl was any dryer or more terse, he'd
snap and burst into flames.
