Sure there were a lot of posers and/or weekend punks, which
is why I said some punks I knew, not all punks. And who said
anything about grown-ups? Maybe arrested development is part
of the noir outlook. Certainly, a lot of the complications in
the noir world grow from refusing to delay gratification, one
of the alleged hallmarks of maturity.
"Wouldn't it be pretty hard to maintain a prolonged noir

Well, many of them don't have prolonged lives, like Sid and
Kurt.
"Or is it possible that being hard-boiled is simply the way
to deal with a noirish world? One could conceivably think
we're all doomed, but not be noir themselves, couldn't they?
A true noir believer would just let it happen . . ."
Or try to get in line with it, or even capitalize upon it,
have fun of make a profit until the light go out.
