Saul Rubinek!!!
Man, he played Benny Cooperman on radio and two fondly
remembered (at least on my part) made-for-TV adaptations --
all of which took the hard-boiled genre and gave it a very
Canadian small town twist. The scene where Benny/Saul is
tailing someone and someone calls out "Hey, Benny, how's the
detective biz?" is a hoot!
It would be great to see him return to the role (as if the
CBC could afford his rates now), now that I think he'd be
absolutely perfect. (I always pictured Benny as a little
older than Saul was in the TV flicks.
