I'm a big fan of Jonathan Latimer's Solomon's Vineyards and
his Bill Crane series, and recently I got my hands on what I
believe was his last book, Black is the Fashion for Dying.
It's very good - has some of the oddness and perverseness of
Solomon's and some of the screwball nature of his Bill Crane
series. Basically a locked room murder of fading but
conniving actress that takes place on a movie set, and told
in third person in alternating chapters by different
characters involved. One of the main characters, a movie
script writer, you have a sense is somewhat autobiographical.
Definitely worth looking for.
