I just read WHAT THE DEAD MEN SAY (1990) by Ed Gorman, and it's another fine noirish western, short and fast-moving. A man gone mad for vengeance comes to town and goes after three men. It's tough stuff, but not bleak. It has what I think of as a more traditionally western structure, because the bad people die, and the good people live, and when there are middling people who die, it's all right, because they weren't very happy.
