I think Jim Doherty defined hardboiled as "Tough and
colloqueal" and noir as "dark and sinister."
The Heresy is that I chopped it down to two one word
definitions: Hardboiled=tough and noir=screwed.
Now, if I have anouther heresy out there, I'm not aware of
it.
But I do say that Red Harvest is dreck--but that's auxilary
to the second heresey.
BTW, I think it was Kerry who said that shoot-em-ups have
their place. I agree, but I would rather see them done well.
Peleconoes comes close and he has the guts to say what his
books are--Urban Westerns.
