I can't remember the title or author of a book I read over 30
years ago. The hardcover had a silhouette of a bat on the
cover, and was described as a "Tower Mystery", which may have
beeb a division of a publishing house called World Books. The
plot concerned a series of murders where the victims had
their throats cut, perhaps "from ear to ear". The protagonist
who might have been a detective, but might have been a
reporter or something else, seemed to have expensive tastes,
but not much money to indulge them. I don't know anything
about the publishing date, except that it seemed like an old
book in the late 60's when I read it. Perhaps it was set in
the 30's or 40's. Any ideas? Thanks.
