The author is Homer Hickam, who wrote the memoir ROCKET BOYS
which was turned into the movie OCTOBER SKY. THE AMBASSADOR'S
SON is a World War II novel set in the South Pacific. John
Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and other historical figures make
appearances as characters. JFK, in fact, is the title
character. This is the second book in a series that began
with THE KEEPER'S SON, which was about U-Boats off the
Atlantic coast of the U.S. during the early days of the war.
Both are very, very good historical novels. Neither are the
least bit hardboiled or noir, though.
