This is one of my favorites. I probably like Welles' Lady
From Shanghai and Third Man a little bit more (yeah, I know
Carol Reed directed Third Man - but Welles must've been
involved at some level, especially with the camera angles in
that one), but this is a terrific movie. Absoultely brilliant
filmmaking - both the camera angles and the way the
soundtrack is at times slightly disjointed from the
characters creating a very jarring effect. Btw. Welles has on
fat makeup for this one - this was made before he got heavy.
Kind of prophetic Dietrich warning him to watch out for those
candy bars.
