At least, I seem to be finding it easier to track them down.
Could it be possible that the genre is about to experience a
boom in popularity?
*********** I think hardboiled has more or less kept an even
keel of popularity, but I see the reprinting of Jim
Thompson's works as a rise in noir popularity. I don't know
how long those have been out. 10 years? Although it might be
becoming more popular, rarely does "real" noir become
mainstream.
The new "real" noir is coming from male authors. Vicki
Hendricks is the exception.
And, yes, the internet is a blessing for finding books. If
you don't have to read a book the year it comes out, you can
usually buy the hardback for under a dollar. That's
incredible! Add the price of shipping and it still comes to
about half the price of a mass paperback. WAHOOO!!
And except for a few collector's items, the old classics are
no longer hard or impossible to find. Just go to Abebooks. I
do!
