I had a look in WorldCat (an enormous union catalogue listing
lots of library holdings from around the world), and Yale,
Brown, Kent State, Washington U, and Grand Valley State U all
seem to have runs of BLACK MASK: A MAGAZINE OF GRIPPING,
SMASHING DETECTIVE STORIES (the original title, I presume)
from the start onwards. The Libary of Congress, UCLA, Bowling
Green, Ohio State, and Oxford have listings for just plain
BLACK MASK, but the range of dates has no start. All are good
places to ask, though, and their libaries should be glad to
help.
Librarians on the list can correct me, because I may be
misreading WorldCat results. Your university librarians can
help you get more details, too.
