Mark's comment about Larry Brown's work being accepted by
EASYRIDER magazine reminds me of one of the great stories of

************* I had a subscription to Easyrider back in the
late 70s. A fine periodical. I had an old WWII army cycle
that was black and chrome.
Speaking of Hammett, I'm watching Miller's Crossing right
now, which I've heard is based on RED HARVEST. I somehow
thought it was a grade B movie, but it seems pretty classy.
Haven't exactly found the parallel between the book and the
movie yet, other than a buttload of gangster violence.
