I recently picked up Leigh Brackett's "No Good From a Corpse"
- after looking very, very forward to reading it after
enjoying her short crime stories - and stopped reading before
chapter five, very disappointed. It just didn't grab me or
make any huge impression. I don't understand the comparison
to Chandler's work the book recieved. It wasn't even in the
same league. Has anybody else read the book and have an
opposite opinion? I really hated to stop because, as I said,
I like Brackett's short stories. Oh, well - it happens.
