Another writer who managed to blend the traditional mystery
with the Black Mask hardboiled school was Erle Stanley
Gardner. This is particularly true in the Lam & Cool
series he wrote as A. A. Fair.
Yet another was George Harmon Coxe, who continued
writing
"cozyboiled" PI novels until his death in the seventies. I
have become a minor fan of this old pulpster, though he could
become professionally pedestrian.
