And if you accept Jim's definition of hardboiled as "tough
and colloquial", then I don't think Kevin Wignall's
hardboiled either.
As to the question of character, why assume a hit man's
hardboiled? Give him a gun and a defenceless victim and he's
all balls; offer him a bare knuckle fight with Jimmy
"Eyepopper" McMad and I bet he won't be so keen.
