Mark,
Re your question below:
> And those [subsequently published Debut
Dagger
> winners and nominees] would be?
The winner of the 1998 Debut Dagger, the first one ever
given, was Joolz Denby's STONE BABY
(HarperCollins).
1999 - Caroline Carver's BLOOD JUNCTION (Orion)
2000 - Simon Levack's A FLOWERY DEATH, eventually published
as DEMON OF THE AIR (Simon & Schuster)
2001 - Edward Wright's CLEA'S MOON (Orion)
2002's and 2003's winners, respectively Ilona van Mills's
SUGARMILK FALLS and Kirsten Evans's THE CUCKOO, haven't yet
been published, but I understand they've been sold.
Barbara Cleverly's first novel, THE LAST KASHMIRI ROSE, a
Debut Dagger nominee, has since been published by Constable,
and has been spun off into a series of, so far, three
books.
The CWA website only lists the winners, so TWO-WAY SPLIT and
THE LAST KASHMIRI ROSE are the only runners-up I KNOW were
subsequently published, though I've been told that there have
been a lot of sales from the ranks of the nominees.
