I have just finished reading Jim Doherty's "Just the
Facts--True Tales of Cops and Criminals."
Jim begins with Bill Tilghman, cowboy then cop, the Mad
Doctor in Cleveland, featuring Eliot Ness.
Each section is about a true crime or series of true crimes,
each leaving us wanting to know more--which is not a bad
thing. In fact, it's a damned good thing.
My favorite section was Jim's coverage of "The Cigar Girl and
the Storyteller," a true story which Edgar Alan Poe
fictionalized for his "The Mystery of Marie Roget."
Good work, Jim.
