Hi,
I was briefly subscribed to Rara-Avis a few years ago and
many, many moons ago I was a member of DAPA-EM.
A friend and I recently cooked up the idea of teaching a
class on detective fiction through the St. Louis Public
School's community education program, so I'm thinking a lot
about mysteries right now.
A tentative reading list: Hammett, Chandler, Latimer (god, I
love him), McDonald, MacDonald, Stout, and on and on.
I've never taught a class in my life but I am in the process
of finishing my bachelor's degree (after 22 years) at
Washington University in St. Louis. My friend has taught
before, though, way back in the day.
I'm very excited to see Dick Lochte is on this list. Loved
all of his books.
Bill Crider published some of my poems when I was but a
recent high school graduate....
A friend and I have started a non-profit organization that
sends English language books to school teachers in foreign
countries. Right now we're sending books to Peace Corps
teachers in Romania. Here's the website: http://www.athousandbooks.org.
My latest project has been setting up a website for my pal
Rob Levy's radio show. It was more or less an excuse to have
a place to post some of my photographs. http://www.juxtaposition88.org
