I've read a couple of great U.K. crime novels recently.
THE BUSINESS OF DYING is a great debut novel from Simon
Kernick. It's very dark and very funny and Kernick's plotting
is top notch.
I also loved an early Ken Bruen novel, HER LAST CALL TO LOUIS
MACNEICE. Ken has been getting a lot of attention for his
Jack Taylor detective novels, but if you want to read an
excellent example of what noir is check out MACNEICE (nd I
think it's going to be a film soon...)
