The Minneapolis Magician will live forever in Bouchercon
infamy. I was up for an award that year, but I didn't go to
the banquet. I was loitering outside the door to see who'd
win, and it was hilarious to see the stunned looks on the
faces of the banquet-goers as they occasionally staggered out
of the dining area for relief. I still remember Jerry Healy
muttering,
"People are beginning to lose that thin veneer of
civility."
