Me:
<<Any definition of noir has to go back to the Greek
myths.>>
Kev
<<Why?>>
For reasons of rhetoric. Seriously, the Greeks created a
pretty thorough catalogue of human tragedy, as well as the
aesthetic devices to show that tragedy on stage. A noir
novelist is doing the same thing with the same themes. The
language and the circumstances are different, but the essence
is the same.
Best, and I still don't understand how I came to be conflated
with Miker in this discussion. Time to trim the quoted text,
folks. Aristotle or Three Gun Terry says so.
