  Anyone interested in Richard Matheson should read "What Dreams May Come," a novel filled with autobiographical references. Try to ignore the mawkish Robin Williams movie version.

I imagine it's been mentioned, but, if not, Matheson also wrote the script for Steven Spielberg's breakthrough project, "Duel," about the hapless motorist who's being chased by a homicidal trucker.
