Possibly surpassing Macdonald in scope and variety. When I
read _State's Evidence_ I thought old Ross had conned us all
and lived in hiding in a San Francisco warehouse. Later, I
thought Greenleaf was trying to exorcize the Macdonald
influence.
What's not arguable is that the great Greenleaf is at least
as depressing as Macdonald.
