Wildly? Actually Garden of Sand and its two sequels seem to
be pretty autobigraphical. It's a shame Thompson died so
young. If he could have kept the energy from his first book
while perfecting his technique he might have produced
something even better.

books to read. Sad to come to the end of his output. I'll try
and hold off on it for a year or so. I'm also starting to run
out of Willeford, too, even though I've got a long ways to
go. I had my fingers on THE DIFFERENCE this afternoon but put
it back and decided to dig into the Westerns you all
recommended to me. I started Gorman's WOLF MOON.
