Of course, but no gravitas is needed (otherwise, we would
never discuss brand-new authors). As long as someone likes a
hardboiled book or writer and wants to bring up the topic,
it's fair game. I gave my opinion on the quality of these
particular writers, as you have of, er, Dell Shannon. I did
not say that they were not worthy of discussion. In fact, I
was discussing them. I am not sure that Grafton is
hardboiled. Paretsky obviously is.
