Jacobean Tragedy is getting a major revival here in the UK
(or at least has been - lots of new productions). The lovely
Derek Raymond is also credited as a Jacobean style writer -
I'm pretty sure one critics blurb reads, "has an almost
Jacobean obsession with the skull beneath the skin". But
that's off the top of my skull so I wouldn't take that as
gospel.... Them Jacobean writers truly were hardboiled
though! I remembre the Duchess of Malfi from school - a truly
great and very disturbing play. Modern rewrites would be an
interesting field for some of our tougher writers!
