There used to be more information than you ever wanted to know at www.hankjanson.org.uk but it would appear that the account has been suspended and the website no longer exists. Beginning in the mid-forties, Hank Janson (pen name of Stephen Frances), along with Ben Sarto (Frank Dubrez Fawcett) and Darcy Glinto (Harold Kelly) wrote imitative gangster novels to exploit the mass market created by US hardboiled writers. Janson was extraordinarily prolific, so I've no excuse for not having yet read any of his books. Thanks for the link. Prion were supposed to be reissuing a few of them last year, but they seem to have passed on the opportunity.
